Visitation 12 noon - 2pm Friday, August 16, 2024 at Watson Memorial Baptist Church 7217 Nachand Lane. Funeral to follow at 2pm.
Laura Louise Hunter was born Saturday, July 19, 1947 in Limestone County, Alabama to the late Thelma “Muh” Bennett and Ornie Hunter, Sr. Laura “Louise” was the fourth child of five born to this union. She and her siblings were raised in a no nonsense, but close-knit home. It was commonly known that if you saw one of the sisters, the others weren’t far behind.
Louise attended Mt. Vernon Baptist Church were she was later baptized. She later moved her membership to Christ Cathedral of Praise (CCOP) where she remained a member until her passing.
Louise graduated from Central High School in 1967. She was the mother to two children, Rodney and Tamika Hunter. After high school Louise began working at Stry-Lenkoff Company. After more than forty years of service, Louise retired from work. She spent the rest of her days shopping and brunching and brunching and shopping. She also loved to attend her high school reunions where she got to see all of her high school friends. Louise was an avid fan of the University of Louisville and loved to rock her attire where ever and whenever she could. She would sit for hours at a time doing her crossword puzzles and talking on the phone with her sister, Stine. Louise was also known to go to her weekly hair appointments no matter what - rain, sleet, snow, blizzard, hailstorm, or heatwave - she would not miss an appointment.
Sadly, Laura Louise Hunter departed this life on Sunday, August 11, 2024. She leaves to protect and treasure her memory: her son, Rodney Hunter (Tonya); seven grandchildren, Jazmine, Rodney Jr., Rodneka, Rashid, Elexus, Haley, and Channing; thirteen great grandchildren, Trisen, Levi, Rodney III, Trinity, Avery, Shomari, Saint, Timeka, Timyla, Antonio, Tymeka, TyAna, and Timberlee; a sister, Celestine Lewis; a special cousin, James Fletcher and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Louise was preceded in death by: her only daughter, Tamika Hunter; a granddaughter, Kayla Breona Percell; her brother, Ornie, and sisters, Mattie and Rosetta.
