Frank Washington, 66, of Louisville transitioned on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Visitation 12 - 1 Saturday, September 28, 2024, at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road. Memorial Service to follow at 1pm.

Frank Washington was born Sunday, December 1, 1957, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Dorothy Patterson Washington and James Washington. He was the eleventh child of their twelve children, the second son and ten sisters. At an early age, Frank began his Christian journey and was baptized at Forest Tabernacle Baptist Church. Later, he united with Full Gospel Neighborhood Church where his brother-in-law, Rev. Charles Sweeney, was the pastor. He was educated in the Jefferson County Public Schools system. Frank attended Rangeland Elementary, Thomas Jefferson Middle School, and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School.

“Frank-a-Lank”, as he was known by in Newburg and surrounding neighborhoods, was a person who never met a stranger. Whether he was detailing and driving fast cars, landscaping yards, operating as a mechanic, laying floors, or painting houses, Frank was a “Jack of all trades’ and was always willing to be helpful, especially to family and friends.

Being well organized and neat was not just for his work, it was also a part of his own personal appearance. He was a dapper dresser who brought fun and laughter to any event. It wasn’t a real party unless Frank was there telling jokes, dancing his “famous moves”, and making everyone laugh as they enjoyed being in his presence (smile).

Truly, his greatest joy was being around family (especially his nephews and nieces) and friends. Being the second youngest of twelve children, Frank had a strong bond with his siblings and special bonds with their children. Frank would hangout listening to hip-hop and rap music. Frequently, Frank was found eating his favorite food category---SWEETS! Honey buns and gummy bears were his favorites.
His last employment was with his sister’s daycare, Building a Rainbow, where he worked as the maintenance man.

On Thursday, September 19, 2024, Frank Washington, at the tender age of 66, departed this life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Patterson-Washington and James Washington; daughter, Nikki Graves; siblings, Rita Hepkins, Pauline Beckham, Gertrude Chatman, Joyce Goodwin, and Louise Dennis. He is survived by his son, Lavelle Pendleton; grandchildren, Kaliyah, Tyrell, Lavelle Jr., Charnaisa, La’Terius; siblings, Rosetta Sweeney, L.A. Washington, Doris-Gale Washington, Mildred Brooks, Rosa Patrick (Howard), Gwen Holman; and a host of nieces and nephews who will truly miss him.
